La Tejita Beach

La Tejita Beach

La Tejita beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife and also one of the largest, measuring 1 km in length. It is located in El Médano, Granadilla de Abona next to the Montaña Roja, a beautiful volcanic cone. The only drawback is when the wind blows hard, which makes it difficult to sit on the sand.

This wonderful beach is located in a protected natural area (Montaña Roja Special Nature Reserve), which is why access by car is not allowed, but on the El Médano-Los Abrigos road there are several car parks where you can leave your car and from there you can take any of the different paths that lead to the beach.

There are two areas with sunbeds and umbrellas that you can rent if you prefer to lie on the sand, even on weekends you will find plenty of space.

It is a beach where nudism is allowed, but it is usually practised in the part that is closer to the Red Mountain.

As I mentioned at the beginning, the only downside of this beach is the wind, as it is located in one of the windiest areas of the island. If there is little or no wind that day, it is a very pleasant beach.

There are no showers or toilets on the beach, nor are there any restaurants or cafés. You have to walk to the "Chiringuito Pirata" for a while.

From my point of view it is one of the most special beaches of the island, because while you are bathing you can see the Montaña Roja (Red Mountain).
